Last year I took a 12″softball to the face it shattered 5places on my face. How do I get rid of the fear?
The softball hit my left eye and almost knocked me out. This is adult softball they hit hard. I shy away from the ball. I dont get down on the ball because Im afraid of another bad hop and If I get hit there again it could cave my left side of my face in. But I still play because its my favorite thing to do. How do I get over it?
First of all, with that kind of injury, I hope you are wearing a protective face mask. The short stop that I played with in college had the exact same injury and she was told if she got hit in the face again, she could die. So I hope you are protecting yourself.
Second, it’s just going to take you some time to get back into it. Having an injury that bad, you have every right to be scared. But, if you are scared, you need to work extra. Take more ground balls than anyone, see more pitches than anyone. You also have to remember that not only did you get injured, but you were out an dnot playing while the others were. You are out of practice.
you can do it though. Just practice more and you can bring your confidence up.
